This project was born out of necessity almost 15 years ago as I could not find any quality recordings of relaxation exercises to give to my clients. I was working in the public mental health system then & the research on the benefits of relaxation techniques were well-established (& mindfulness was well on its way).
So I used to record myself on tape (I know, so old!) to be able to give something to my clients to practice at home.
I told one of my colleagues and she suggested that we produce our own recording & that's what we did! Crown House Publishing released our CD in 2008.
Since then, thousands of people have listened to our collection of 7 relaxation exercises, we have 4.5 star rating on Amazon and have been so happy to hear that people have found our recordings helpful in reducing their stress and anxiety.
Here are some of the reviews:
"I bought a few of these, the others from different authors. This one has helps me the most. The progressive muscle relaxation track works wonders for me. The background music is very calming and her voice has an amazing calming effect as well. Listening to the progressive muscle relaxation track first, then, listening to the visualization tracks just after it puts me to sleep in just minutes after taking the headphones out while in bed. Sometimes, I even fall asleep before they're over. I don't use it every night, just those nights where I struggle to fall asleep."
"My counselor recommended this CD to me and I didn't think much about it at the time. In fact I assumed that I would listen to it once and that would be the end of it. However, I have found that it is very helpful with my anxiety and ADD. I'm able to calm down and focus my energy, whether to sleep or simply complete a task in a timely manner. Kudos to the authors!"
"Dr. Nejad's CD includes several guided meditations in addition to an excellent 18-minute progressive muscle relaxation exercise that is the best of the ones I've tried to date. Well worth the money. The instructor's voice is clear, firm and pleasant; the timing of the exercises is very well done. The only flaw I can find with this CD is that it seems to be the only one that Lillian Nejad and Katerina Volny have produced to date."
"I love the progressive relaxation response and the constant reminder about what anxiety is and what can I do about it. It has a few different kinds of ways of relaxation. Even erasing a white board and putting positive reminders on it every day. I love it."
Now it is even more accessible via Audible! From tape to CD to digital downloads--what will be next...
